Sticky's Dream Job
Sticky's Dream Job is a simple clone of Vampire Survivors, centering on Sticky's hunt for his dream job. Sticky has many interests and hobbies, so he's struggling to figure out his dream job. He's been so stressed about planning his future that he has what seems to be a job-hopping nightmare! How long can Sticky survive in each job? How much work experience can he add to his resume? It's up to you to help Sticky destroy all kinds of enemies, from tomatoes and flowers to mysteriously familiar rubber ducks on wheels...
This game is my submission for GCPL's 2024 Game Jam. My interpretation of the theme "tales from the abyss" focuses mainly on the concept of endlessness, so I decided to build a Vampire Survivors clone to emphasize this. Consider this to be Sticky's tale from the abyss of the working world. I was inspired by my own career planning stress over the past year. I decided to give the game a doodle-ish style for a comical effect and to push the career planning theme. I imagine it as someone daydreaming and doodling in their notebook, just like I often do when I am (not) being productive.
The game features my hand-drawn illustrations and my talented buddy DimeT's custom music!

I played this at the Free Comic Book Day Event and had a great time with it! But now that I'm home and get to play it more in depth I really see how cool it is! Having unique music for each job and even achievements is crazy cool for a jam game...
Anyway I made it to year 79 and got so powerful I couldn't die-
Thanks for coming to play it again! Your feedback is much appreciated. Wow, 79 years? I should have added greater achievements for veterans like you, haha!
I really like it! The artstyle is really cohesive and charming, and it's a genuinely great idea for the theme of the jam.
Being a VS clone, the addicting gameplay works out well - and reaching that level where you can passively sit there basically untouchable is really fitting for the "endless abyss" of a job.
Great small game, had a lot of fun (:
Awesome, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I was a bit worried that my interpretation of the theme would be confusing, so I'm happy to hear it makes sense with the art. Thanks!
